THE LAST DAY WE CAN ACCEPT BIRDS IS NOVEMBER 1, 2024.

OUR INTAKE IS NOW CLOSED FOR THIS YEAR.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY BIRDS TO US OUTSIDE OF THESE ESTABLISHED DATES!

 Quarantine and Export fees: $130 PER BIRD for this race if sending less than 10 birds. These are not associated with the race fees or perch fees.

If you send +10 or more birds under the same breeder or syndicate name, it will be $100 per bird. 

ANY BIRDS SENT TO THE RACE FOR "BREEDING PURPOSES" WILL BE $175 PER BIRD.

WHAT HAS CHANGED AT VICTORIA FALLS WORLD CHALLENGE?

 

This is the toughest One Loft Race in the world, and we need to make changes to improve the returns and give better satisfaction to our fanciers. There are few changes in the terms and conditions and some big changes in the staff. The last 2 years have seen of some of the toughest conditions one can expect with the highest temperatures in recorded history and a devastating drought.

 

More favourable weather next Race Season

 

We are informed by the weather experts that this coming year will be a reversal with high rainfall and cooler temperatures during our summer months (November to April). This will help the pigeons during our racing season as there is a need for surface water in the dams and rivers for them to drink.

 

Young pigeons at intake

 

We believe that a major improvement can be made by ensuring that the majority of pigeons are young when they arrive and thoroughly trained down the road early to gain fitness and develop the homing instinct. Pigeons will be divided at intake at the Race Loft into old and young pigeons and will be trained in these groups before mixing later. We advise to send pigeons to shippers at 45 to 60 days old if possible.

 

Quarantine Loft at the Race Loft

 

We are also in the process of moving the quarantine site from Harare to Victoria Falls overlooking the race loft to shorten the breaking in period.

 

Breeding Station established

 

For those who want to take advantage of the Breeding Station this is ready to receive pigeons from imports or the 2 upcoming auctions PIPA and Best Pigeons.

 

Staff changes

 

We are pleased to advise that Craig Hunt is back with the loft as the Race Director/Trainer. He has raced pigeons in Zimbabwe almost all his life following his Father and Grandfather. He was the Race Director/Trainer at Victoria Falls for 2 years before moving to France. He has also been marketing the race Worldwide for the last 8 years. Wade Armand has come back as Assistant Trainer and was with the race for 5 years before retiring to South Africa over the last 2 seasons. He came back in March this year. Both Craig and Wade bring many years of pigeon experience and One Loft Race knowledge at Victoria Falls.

Entry Fee is $600 USD per bird, plus a $80 perch fee per bird, for each 5 bird team.

Please note: If you prefer to wire the race fees and perch fees to VF yourself, you can do so.

Please send birds that are fully vaccinated for PMV, and also birds that are 60 days or older.

They do better throughout the entire quarantine and shipping process.
